Why can I only answer, not comment?

I'm unable to comment on any posts, only answer. If I click on the "comment" link, it takes me down to the big answer box.
I tried with multiple browsers as well.

Since I'm Splunk employee, the Splunk answers community manager reached out directly to me.
It was a bug on the server side which has been corrected.

@dpetracca, I find that strange. Normally, the behavior is right opposite that posted answers might go for moeration but looking at the Karma points table there is no point for comments being disabled for anyone.

With great powers comes great responsibilities. So now you get to start commenting and answering all questions.

Actually, now you should post what was done to resolve or rather whom to contact. Then accept the same as answer so that it benefits others facing same issues.

I thought that too but why would it allow me to answer? I would think comment would be allowed first over answer

I'm guessing it has to do with your low karma count/age of account

issue has been resolved on server side so I'm able to comment now
