Splunk Observability Cloud | AWS ELB Target Group Tag Metadata Enhancement

Metric telemetry from AWS ELBs will be enhanced to include metadata linking ELB metrics to the ELB Target Group. Metrics which are reported for specific target groups will now include additional tag properties identifying the specific targets of the target group. The additional tag information allows customers to correlate their Target Groups with the underlying compute services, including EC2 Instances, Lambda functions or EKS Containerized Services.

Because this change updates the AWSUniqueId semantic conventions, all MTS for ELB metrics will be recreated when this change is deployed (on or after 15 Aug 2023). False alerts may be raised by this change if there are detectors relying on continuous MTS.

Metrics subject to this change include commonly referenced metrics like HealthyHostCount, RequestCountPerTarget, TargetResponseTime. For a complete list of metrics for ELB services please refer to the AWS CloudWatch documentation.
