We wanted to give you all a SNEAK PEEK of a new feature in Splunk SOAR (f.k.a Phantom) set to go-live on August 18th — a new Visual Playbook Editor! 🙌🏼
This new, modern visual playbook editor makes it easier than ever to create, edit, implement, and scale automated playbooks to help you eliminate grunt work and respond to incidents at machine speed.
The improvements we’ve made to the new editor have been centered on ensuring that anyone can automate — regardless of your comfort level with coding! For you Super SOAR users (i.e. more advanced users 😎), you will appreciate increased modularity which will improve reusability and scale.
Here’s some highlights on what this modern visual playbook editor delivers 💡
- Improved readability
- Vertical playbook orientation
- New options for creating playbook blocks with drag-and-drop, mini-menu, and keyboard shortcuts
- Definable playbook inputs and outputs
- Ability to create smaller, micro-playbooks
And for those of you who'd like to stick to the original way of building playbooks, never fear! You still have the option to build and edit playbooks in the classic visual playbook editor.

If you'd like some hands-on experience 💻, register for The Splunk SOAR Automation Games on August 25, 2021. In this workshop, you’ll learn the basics of automation and orchestration then apply those concepts in a fun and interactive competition amongst your peers. All levels of experience are welcome to join, but the content is aimed at new SOAR users. This session has limited spots, so register early!
