We trying to determine if they can use Amazon S3 Intelligent-Tiering. We are already using SmartStore with S3 Standard. Here is more info on the types of S3: https://aws.amazon.com/s3/storage-classes/
As you may already know, Amazon S3 offers a range of storage classes designed for different use cases. These include S3 Standard for general-purpose storage of frequently accessed data; S3 Intelligent-Tiering for data with unknown or changing access patterns; S3 Standard-Infrequent Access (S3 Standard-IA)… We want to know if there is any setting in the Splunk config files (or anywhere else) that would prevent us from using S3 Intelligent-Tiering
On the splunk side so additional configuration is required, It's transparent to the Splunk software/application. The intelligent tiering is something you enable on the S3 buckets.
The recommendation will be to get started with S3 standard and once they benchmark cost & perf, then you can consider intelligent tiering
