Solaris install issue

standias
Explorer

My solaris platform is SunOS sparc 5.10

I downloaded this splunk-4.1.6-89596-solaris-8-sparc.pkg.Z

When i try install i get error 'pkgadd: ERROR: attempt to process datastream failed' 😞 😞

Is this because of corrupt download or some bug??

I use following steps to install ( please confirm if correct)

1> gunzip splunk-4.1.6-89596-solaris-8-sparc.pkg.Z

The above gives me splunk-4.1.6-89596-solaris-8-sparc.pkg

2> pkgadd -d ./splunk-4.1.6-89596-solaris-8-sparc.pkg

At this point it gives error :(.

How do i verify from the MD5 checksum, no MD5 is present on my system.

You should be able to use the Solaris digest commmand for md5 checking on Solaris:

digest -v -a md5 splunk-4.1.6-89596-solaris-8-sparc.pkg.Z

Thanks gkanapathy!.... turned out it was corrupt download... People... Be warned browser downloader shows 'successful download' event though it was missing a few hundred KB.

Verify it with MD5!!!
