We just purchased Splunk and I would like to apply the new license to our existing test box while we wait for new hardware. Once the new hardware arrives I plan on taking down the existing box and doing a new install on the new hardware. Can I just apply our license to the new install or do I need another license key?
You can apply your existing license to the new installation. Just be sure to remove it from your old installation first by switching it to the trial, free, or forwarder (essentially enterprise without index allowance) license.
