Does Splunk look for config files recursively? (Splunk Kubernetes Git-Sync)

Greetings,

I want to explore the using git repos to populate my splunk configurations.  But git clones all its files inside a central directory.

My question:  If I have $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/system/local/mygitrepo/server.conf will splunk recursively look inside mygitrepo/  to find the .conf files inside of it when Splunk restarts?

Thanks
