Disk configuration for indexer

Hi splunkers,

We have integrated disk backup by default when we procure disks in server.

For our indexers, shall we go for Raid10 but this will double our disk space?

Or is it fine to have only Raid0 as we have integrated disk back up in place?

RAID 10 offers redundancy.  That's not the same as a backup.  Even a redundant store should be backed up regularly.

Consider how long it will take you to restore critical files from backup in the event of a disk failure before choosing RAID 0.  Remember, in a RAID 0 setup the failure of a single disk will make the entire drive unusable.
