how to import .evtx file from diffrent machine

Hello splunk community,

I am running splunk enterprice version 7.1.2 on a Windows server 2016.

We are trying to import a .evtx file from a Windows server 2012 R2 to it as a local file.
when selecting the file it automaticly selects preprocess-winevt and when we change it to the proper source type we get the following result:

ps. we also tryed to export the file as csv and all other options but they dont get exported correctly from the eventviewer.

Can anybody help me with this problem.

for the people that are having the same problem, while loading in .evtx files the source type needs to be on preprocess winevt. you wil not get a previeuw of your data but it wil work.

you need preprocess because the data in an .evtx file is encrypted.

Worked like a charm.

But i will add the info for clarification that:

^This refers to the fact that you need to type preprocess-winevt in the search bar. This preprocess-winevt is a thing. Not any a thing, but THE!! THING!!

P.S.: I know that i am over thrilled, but this is a big thing, especially for new in this field and they should have a confirmation. Even an over thrilled one. Hope i don't bother anyone with my over-enjoyment.
