error code 1073741795

Hello

I'm trying to install Splunk Forwarder on an WinXP Machine 32-Bit.
On 2 of 50 Computes i got error code 1073741795 and the installation cancels.

I searched for an error description but couldn't find one.

Can anybody help?

I had a similar issue on a Win2003 server and opened a ticket. Support says this is a bug but is not fully understood yet and affects some but not all windows installs. To fix, I had to install older version (5.0.8).

Splunk support says they have an issue with some 32Bit Machines and the MSI installer. So now they gather Data and try to Fix these Issues.

Workaround: Install Splunk 5.x Forwarder.

Yup, got the same response from support. Hopefully they discover the issue soon. Like you stated, we are currently using the latest 5.x version for now.

Got the same error too. My machines getting this error are Windows 2003 32-bit with IIS. Created a support case with SPlunk but no response yet. Would really like to know the solution to this since it's holding up our Forwarder roll-out on Windows (1000 clients). Linux machines were a breeze.

Also, what version of the forwarder are you using? If using version 6.0.2, be aware of known issue SPL-79009 since forwarding is essentially broken. We were trying forwarder version 6.0.2 but went back to 6.0.1 because of this issue. However, both versions won't install.
