i tried with :

https://prd-p-xxxxxx.splunkcloud.com:8088/services/collector/event

and also with :

in both cases, the connation fails

do I need to enable anything else in the SplunkCloud Server side ?

The correct URL depends on if you have a trial account or where your account resides (AWS or GCP).

For trial accounts, the first URL should work.

In GCP, use the second URL, but change the port to 443.

In AWS, use

https://http-inputs-prd-p-xxxxxx.splunkcloud.com:443/services/collector/event

See https://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/8.2.4/Data/UsetheHTTPEventCollector#Send_data_to_HTTP_E... for more information.
