What is the right source type for log4net logs and should they be configured similar to IIS as ms:iis:auto?

When i tried to mark them as weblogs, but they are not revealing the right stats and are facing some challenges while configuring KPIs in ITSI and other apps. What is the right approach / accepted best practice source type for log4net type logs?

Since these logs are from an .NET application, should I still use "Splunk HTTP Event collector"? In such case how the sourcetype should be configured?
