I am trying to set up searchable scripts however when i am on my indexer and go to add data and select forwarders it says no There are currently no forwarders configured as deployment clients to this instance. However im currently monitoring log files from my indexer on my forwarder. Can anyone suggest a reason why this is doing this? Or is there another way to run a script of my linux machine and get the output in splunk on my indexer

thanks for any help

Hi qazwsxedc994,

this is not the way it works.
The input you mentioned is only for universal forwarder which are configured to use the deployment server, read more here http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/6.2.3/Updating/Aboutdeploymentserver

Take a look at the Splunk Add-on for Unix and Linux https://splunkbase.splunk.com/app/833/ to learn more about scripted inputs http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/6.2.3/AdvancedDev/ScriptedInputsIntro

Hope this helps to get you started ...

cheers, MuS
