Not able to login splunk 6.1 first time

I have installed the splunk 6.1 after that for the first time not able to login
i tried with username : admin & Password: changeme

its not working, it says "Invalid username or password."

how to i login or reset to new password ?

Try this

  1. Go the "$Splunk_Home/etc" and create a backup of file with name 'passwd'.
  2. once backup is created, delete the file and restart Splunk. ($Splunk_Home/bin/splunk.exe restart)
  3. Once restarted, try with admin/changeme.
