How to validate text field inputs?

I have a dashboard with text field inputs. I would like to perform a check using the value that is entered in this text box but before that I want to validate the value to be with in a range.
Example: Text box takes utilization percentage as a parameter.
The check I would like to perform is (utilization > 0) AND (utilization < 100).

The problem is "<" operator. Splunk is unable to parse the search and is reporting an error.

Can anyone please tell me a way to achieve this functionality in Splunk.

Thanks
