How to connect Splunk to Google API and Splunk to Mimecast API to ingest that data?

Is there a guide I can follow that specifically talks about connecting to external API's ?

Example:

1) I want to connect Splunk to Google API to ingest that data
2) I want to connect Splunk to Mimecast API to ingest that data

I know those two examples have apps available to download, but what if I didn't want to use the app?

What exactly are the steps to connect to an external API?

Look into getting your api code to work in a stand alone script. Then use add on builder to make a modular input. http://dev.splunk.com/view/addon-builder/SP-CAAAE83
