How do I change the NIC that Splunk Universal Forwarder uses to communicate?

I want to change the NIC that the Splunk Universal Forwarder communicates and sends data through if the server has multiple NICs.

Example:

A web server has a public facing NIC and private facing NIC (for development purposes). The universal forwarder is trying to send data to the indexers and communicate with the deployment server through the public facing NIC. I need to change it so that data and communication is done through the public facing NIC.

The simplest way is to make sure that the public-facing NIC does not have a route to the other side so that only the private-facing NIC does.
