Can you mix Operating Systems in an indexer cluster?

Hi all,

Does splunk support indexer cluster nodes with different Operating Systems - I have a mix of stand alone Linux and Windows indexers (all running 6.2) which I would like to cluster.

Thanks,
Iain

In theory you could, however it is not advised and against the defined requirements as noted in the docs (second point down):

Not sure what "in theory" signifies, but, as the referenced topic states, it is a requirement that all nodes run the same o.s.
