Added data not showing up in respective source types

I added some dummy data yesterday after creating an index and respective source type
But today morning i found there were no data in the surcetype and index is also saying
"No data found"
I have splunk admin role
Please help

How did you add the dummy data? How are you looking for it?
Did you look in the right index? Did you use the right search time window? Have you tried a search with latest_time in the future in case the dummy data has bad timestamps?
