Is it required to install Proofpoint Email security app for Profpoint TAP modular input

If you want to have pre-built reports and dashboards, you want to install the app. The TAP TA just pulls in TAP data and parses it. So, no it is not required but it makes the data more useful.

Component Forwarder Indexer Search head
Proofpoint TAP SIEM Modular Input 1.0.1 available (TA) Install No Install
Its the thing given in the documentation to install TA for the distributed environment on both forwarder and search head .
Is it recommended to install it on the search head too . Please explain what has to be configured on each component.
