Hi All,

Does Deployment Server compatible with deployment client that has higher version?

For example :

Deployment Server - 7.3.5
Deployment Client - 8.0.9

OR

Deployment Server - 8.0.9
Deployment Client - 8.2.3

Thank you for the help!

Hen

The Deployment Server should have a newer/higher version than the clients.

Hi @hketer , As @richgalloway suggested its generally good to have DeploymentServer with higher versions than DeploymentClients.

In simple workds, its good to have indexers, searchheads, DS, MonitoringConsole, deployer, heavy forwarder --- all in one version(lets say 8x).

and the forwarders(deployment clients), can be same or less than 8x versions.

Documentation for reference: (8.0.9 version selected)

Hi

Based on this document https://docs.splunk.com/images/d/d3/Splunk_upgrade_order_of_ops.pdf DS must be the first one which will updated. That means that it must be the highest version on your environment.
