How do I add random HTML code to the following Splunk view? (Or any view in general?) I just need to dress up the view with administrative overhead. Thanks.

<view template="dashboard.html">
1Hr(5min Refresh) - Customer Activity
<module name="GenericHeader" layoutPanel="panel_row1_col1">
Customer Activity (Most ACTIVE)
<module name="AutoRefresh">
300
<module name="HiddenSearch" autoRun="True" layoutPanel="panel_row1_col1_grp1">

index="MyIndex" sourcetype="customer" | timechart count by customer

-1h
<module name="HiddenChartFormatter">
line
connect
log
Time
Volume
<module name="FlashChart"/>
</module>
</module>
</module>
</module>
</view>

Using the advanced HTML functionality, the Sideview Utils app provides the ability to include arbitrary HTML in a view. There is a good example of this functionality in the S-O-S app.

For simple xml there is an html node:

There are a couple of built in cmds for advanced xml.

1. StaticContentSample - Include raw HTML in the view xml
2. ServerSideInclude - Include an html file to be included.

An example of StaticContentSample from nick:

<module name="StaticContentSample">

my test link

</module>
