Dashboards & Visualizations

Why are edit buttons not visible on any dashboard for any user other than the original admin?

I created another admin user (literally a clone of the default admin), but when logging in with that user, the edit button, export button, etc in the upper right corner are gone from all dashboards, even the ones created by the new user. I can still edit them by adding /edit to the URL. The search heads are clustered, so I also tried making a new user through terminal. I obviously also tried a restart.

Any ideas?

Hi dkoops,

the only thing I can think off, is that this user was not created the correct way - see the docs http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/6.3.0/DistSearch/AdduserstotheSHC#Use_Splunk_Enterprise_...
Also, check the roles http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/6.3.0/Security/Aboutusersandroles assigned to this new user.

cheers, MuS

Thanks for the response. I actually found that documentation before but after checking again, it seemed the user wasn't correctly created on 1 of the search heads. After recreating the user on the last search head, the edit button reappeared on all the dashboards. Seems weird these things are related but hey, i'm happy it's working again.
