Is it possible to generate a PDF of a full dashboard and all its panels in a single page with Splunk 6.4?
Hi Splunkers,
Has anyone found a way to generate a PDF file that has the same layout as the Dashboard with multiple panels? When I generate a PDF in Splunk 6.4, each panel is printed in a single page, so the entire layout is ignored and all the data is shown in 7 pages. This document is generated for my CIO, so I need all the panels in a single A4 page only!
Like this post https://answers.splunk.com/answers/67071/new-pdf-generation-limitations.html, this feature is missing.
I run actually Splunk 5.0.11 and plan to migrate to 6.4, but if I can't generate PDF files as my dashboards layout, the migration is compromised.
Thanks.
You can find the dashboard on the following link : XML Dashboard File

We are currently working on solving these PDF issues, as well as allowing users to export reports and other views as PNGs. Stay tuned!

Hi Emeelan,
Is there any update on the PDF or PNG issue?
Even just a timeline?
Many thanks!

Agree, the PDF generating feature is not useful, I would really appreciate this being improved in Splunk. The PDF reports are so unstructured that the information is lost. We are, due to our use case, forced to export and store dashboards for later use and proof. Unfortunately Splunk is being questioned as useful, even if the Dashboards look ok when viewing them in Splunk. Any plans to improve this function?

Is this something which will be adressed in a future release in splunk?
Seriously right now the PDF´s are basically useless. We have several smaller panels with single values which get all printed in single rows.

Have you tried this app : https://splunkbase.splunk.com/app/2614/
report-sender.
it uses phantomjs to export the page to pdf, casperjs to pass trough the splunk auth.
It requires using linux.
it really seems the easiest way to go. phantomjs can do pdf, so i guess the app could send pdf instead of png. i haven't tried though.

I have the same issue with the PCI Compliance in Enterprise Security. It seems that the PCI Compliance Posture does not do this and I find with search head clustering, there are too many apps that do not work therefore I am relegated to jury rigging everything. You would think that as much as we paid for this you could generate a PDF of any dashboard...
