Join us for the AI Agent Buildathon, an in-person, three-hour hands-on Hackathon where you’ll use Splunk Agent Launchpad to build an AI-powered workflow addressing a real-world Splunk challenge. And you don’t need to be a developer or data scientist to participate. The experience is designed to make building with agentic AI accessible to Splunk practitioners of all skill levels.

Date: Tuesday, September 15
Time: 6:00 to 9:00 PM MST
Location: .conf26
Register here

Space is limited, so add the AI Agent Buildathon to your agenda through the .conf26 Session Scheduler to reserve your spot.

To find the AI Agent Buildathon, you can either:

  • Search “Buildathon” in the search bar located above the filters on the left, then toggle to Tuesday; or
  • Filter by “Interactive Workshop Session” and navigate to Tuesday to find the Buildathon.

Once you find the session, simply add it to your agenda to register.

Choose your Challenge. Build your Agent

Participants can compete across five categories, each designed around opportunities to make Splunk experiences and workflows better with AI:

  1. Make a New User’s Life Better: Build an agent that helps a new Splunk user discover and understand their environment.
  2. Make the Admin’s Life Better: Build an agent that helps simplify, automate, or improve Splunk administrative workflows.
  3. Do Something Interesting with Cisco Data: Build an agent using the provided Cisco/AKs dataset.
  4. Security-Specific Solution: Build an agent addressing a security-focused use case using the provided dataset(s), which may include the BOTS dataset.
  5. IT Operations-Specific Solution: Build an agent addressing an IT operations-focused use case.

You’ll select a challenge, configure your agent using Agent Launchpad, and test your solution against provided datasets and Splunk environments. Splunk experts will be onsite throughout this Hackathon period to help answer questions and support you as you build.

Build, compete, and win prizes

We’ll select a winner across each of the five competition categories, with each category winner receiving a Nintendo Switch 2 console.

We’ll also be awarding 100 $100 gift cards to participants who successfully complete the challenge and build an agent.

Your submissions will be evaluated based on areas such as the quality and usefulness of the agent, performance, and ingenuity of your approach.

Our goal is to make AI agent building approachable for Splunk admins, users, practitioners, and developers alike. We’ll provide challenges, datasets, pre-configured Splunk environments, and onsite support. All you need to do is bring your laptop, your ideas, and your knowledge of the problems you want AI to help solve.

Along the way, you’ll get hands-on experience with Agent Launchpad, explore practical applications of agentic AI, and see firsthand how agents can help make everyday Splunk workflows simpler and more intelligent.

And the ideas created during the Buildathon could have an impact beyond .conf26. One of the goals of the event is to identify useful agent experiences that could help inform future out-of-the-box solutions for Splunk users.
