The Splunk Community Slack is undergoing a system migration to keep our workspace secure and compliant; so, we’re migrating this workspace to the Slack Enterprise Grid.
What does this mean to you?
- On August 8th at 5:00AM UTC, the current Splunk Community Slack space will become unavailable for up to 7 hours. Reindexing content and search will take another 12-16 hours, but all channels will be available post-migration.
- You will get an email from Slack once your migration is complete. Press the Authenticate your account button in the binding email to get started. The process takes less than a minute! See the example below:
Please note: Since this is a migration, you will need to authenticate via SSO to complete the account verification/binding process. There will be no option to bypass SSO.
If you login via desktop, you will see an Enterprise Grid screen with the Splunk Community Slack workspace available to launch, and if you use the Slack app, you should see all the channels you know once you log in.
What do you need to do before that?
We want to avoid duplicate accounts! Make sure the email address on your splunk.com account and Slack community are the same by going to:
On Slack: Account > Settings > Email Address
- On Splunk.com > My Dashboard > Email address
- If they don’t match, you can contact #slack-help to request an update to your Splunk Community Slack email, since your splunk.com account email cannot be changed.
- If you no longer have access to that email, you might need to create a new splunk.com account with the email that matches the one on your Slack account.
