JMX-based extension connectivity: How do I troubleshoot issues?

While configuring JMX-based extensions, you may sometimes face connectivity issues to your application server which is exposed via JMX. You may also want to verify a metric value reported by extensions against the value reported in JConsole for the same attribute and MBeans

The recommended practice is to run the JConsole on the same server where you are running the machine agent with a JMX-based monitor, and using the same user which is running the agent.
