iOS Crashes with SplunkNSURLSessionDataDelegateInterceptor URLSession:task:didCompleteWithError

Hello Splunk team and community,

I'm experiencing a lot of iOS crashes from following line (APPNAME is obfuscated).

*APPNAME* -[SplunkNSURLSessionDataDelegateInterceptor URLSession:task:didCompleteWithError:] (in *APPNAME*) (SplunkNSURLSessionDataDelegateInterceptor.m:142)

It seems like it's related to connectivity issues though. Looks like Splunk is intercepting something on the way to Pinpoint registration and my guess is it's timing out and the app is crashing. I did notice that all crashes had wifi turned off. If you look at the splunk log, SplunkNSURLSessionDataDelegateInterceptor is called and the a whole lot of AWSCore.

Is this known issue with fix? Is there way to prevent this from happening?
I tried to look for Splunk version number, but I couldn't find it. Last time Splunk library was updated was 9 months ago.

Not sure if you ever got a satisfactory answer, but your issue may be related to the following:

Unfortunately you lose the networking tracking feature by implementing the answer on the link above.

Apple comes to nasty software bugs. After that there, login bypass in macOS – now a glitch is causing iOS devices around the world to crash.
here a glitch in the notifications system is crashing springboard, the part of iOS that handles your home screen.
Apps with daily notifications, in particular, seem to be triggering the crash… but only after your device’s passes with some time. That it originates from apps with daily notifications means it’s not affecting everyone — but it also makes it pretty hard to narrow down the list of impacted apps.
boot your device by using these steps:
Settings > Notifications > the app in question > toggle “Allow notifications
after rebooting your device you can turn off notification options.

I think this answer is most close to what my question was asking.
I just applied the fix, and hopefully all crashes will disappear.
