Hi ,

Are you talking about the DB input type like Batch inputs / Rising column inputs

If so , then the whole process is documented under the splunk docs
http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/DBX/3.1.3/DeployDBX/Createandmanagedatabaseinputs

Let me know if you are looking for this one or not

Need more info. What type of SQL database? Do you want to read the entire table every time (batch) or only new rows (rising column)? Do you have a column that uniquely identifies new rows?

hello there,

imho this is a very general question. what kind of DB do you have / plan to bring data from?
what is the data within the database that you are interested in?

start here:
http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/DBX/3.1.3/DeployDBX/HowSplunkDBConnectworks

read all the way through, the entire document

hope it helps
