What is SLA functionality?

After looking through the Splunk docs and answers, I am unable to find any answers about the functionality of SLA.
I see that it is used in the flowing search snippet | fit RandomForestClassifier SLA_violation from

* into sla_model .

I am trying to incorporate it in my search to implement machine learning into my dashboard.
