Using the REST API Modular Input to get weather data

I would like to get weather info from the OpenWeatherMaps api

http://api.openweathermap.org/data/2.5/forecast?q=NY,US&units=metric

I don't need the data indexed, I just want it available when I use it in a search.
Is using the REST API Modular the best way to accomplish this?

If so, can I pass in variables for the city and country? For example,

http://api.openweathermap.org/data/2.5/forecast?q=$city,$country&units=metric

Thanks.

Modular Inputs index data.

If you don't want to index data then you will need to create your own custom generating search command or an external scripted lookup.

Thanks for the info. I'll look into those options.
