Splunk Database

Can anyone confirm if Splunk 6.0 requires a MS SQL database as part of it's installation. I'm being told we need to install it on the Splunk Indexer, but I can't see that as a requirement in any of the manuals. Thanks

Hello,
It is not an requirement. If you want to monitor/query database there is functionality available in splunk to do so. Moreover the concept of database in splunk is index itself which acts as the repository, so don't be confused as there are no dependencies.

You need capable hardware with supported operation system ,a browser and network connectivity to access splunk remotely. Please have a look on the system requirements.
