Splunk DB Connect: Why is my dbxquery not showing any results in the Search and Reporting app?

I tried running a dbxquery using the Splunk DB Connect v2. While I ran the same search in the add-on window, it runs, but when I try to run it in the search bar in Search and Reporting app, it keeps on showing the message -

Parsing search.

It does not show the result, however long I wait. I have tried running larger searches than this. The syntax I am using is -

| dbxquery connection="APP_PROD_DB" query="<query>" shortnames=t|table column1 column2 column3
