Splunk - Add-on for JIRA - Setup

Hi,

I am new to the application "Add-on for JIRA". I am unaware what are the things to be installed and set up with applications to work on or fetch details from JIRA environment through Splunk.

Could anyone please help me in the basic procedures what are all need to be done to start working with JIRA from Splunk. If it is step by step procedures it would be helpful to any beginners who searches in answers.splunk.com.

A things that is indeed a bit strange, is that there is no indexing done of the JIRA data. So when I was setting it up, I was just looking at the indexes, noticing no events being indexed. Anyway, the funny querying seem to work a little bit.

Deployment

Place the app into $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/jira
Create a folder named local, copy default/jira.conf into local, and update with configuration specific to your instance.
Copy $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/jira/bin/config.ini.sample to $SPLUNK_HOME/etc/apps/jira/bin/config.ini and update with your authentication credentials
Configure which keys to display in the table with the keys, time_keys, and custom_keys fields.

To access JIRA from Splunk, does indexing is necessary? If so can I know the procedure for that please.

Hi,

I have changed only the inputs.conf, jira.conf and config.ini as they mentioned in the manual.

Provide all the details of your Jira server and try by changing the option 'disabled' into 0 in the inputs.conf file.

I have referred the manual but I feel it is not clear. Nowhere I could find the exact steps for setting up of JIRA Add-on.
