Protocol Data Inputs: OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space

Hi Folks,

We are experiencing java heap space OutOfMemoryError issues on our splunk Protocol Data Inputs installation. We have the java heap space settings increased as shown below, but still get the OutOfMemoryError condition.

java_args = [ JAVA_EXECUTABLE, "-classpath",CLASSPATH,"-Xms512m","-Xmx8192m","-XX:-PrintGCDetails","-XX:-UseGCOverheadLimit","-XX:-PrintTenuringDistribution","-XX:-PrintGCDateStamps","-Xloggc:/opt/splunk/var/log/splunk/gc.log","-XX:-HeapDumpOnOutOfMemoryError","-XX:HeapDumpPath=/opt/splunk/dump","-Dsplunk.secur$

We continually have to restart the Splunk HF that this is running on to get it to work.

Any suggestions or ideas will be appreciated.

Kind regards,

Warren
