I installed the *nix app and the addon on the server and the addon on the forwarder I get no data on the app view. the app recognizes server host and the addon client host

It looks like you installed App and Add-on only but didn't enabled scripted inputs, please refer https://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/UnixAddOn/5.2.4/User/Enabledataandscriptedinputs to enable various scripted input on Add-on.
Additionally you need to install this add-on on indexer as well so it will create os index on your indexer.
