Error configuring hadoop connect

Hi,
I am getting this error while configuring hadoop connect
ERROR:Failed to get remote Hadoop version (namenode=10.23.227.70, port=50070): 'Version' keyword is not found.
anybody aware of this?? if yes pls help me...
