Does the Splunk App for ServiceNow make a secure DB connection?

I'm in the process of evaluating the Splunk App for ServiceNow. One of our main concerns is that the connection to the ServiceNow database needs to be secure. Can anyone tell me if this connection is secure? It doesn't look like we have as much control over these inputs as we would with DBX.

The app does not query the Service Now database, it uses the API. And yes you can use an SSL endpoint to connect to Service Now API.
