Does Splunk support excel imports

Does Splunk support excel imports. We data in spreadsheets and want to be able to import as excel. I know that CSV imports works but wanted to check if excel imported is a supported future feature of splunk.

the xlsx file format is a zipped tree of xml files. Unzip and look at the xl/sheet1.xml file.

Splunk can import any text-based format. Excel file formats such as xls and xlsx is not text-based and as such cannot be read directly by Splunk.

While I can't really say anything about what's in the roadmap (I'm no Splunk employee) I'd say it's unlikely that that kind of functionality will make it into the core product. Importing Excel spreadsheets isn't exactly what Splunk was created for doing...

Thanks does any future newer versions have any plans to get this seems like like converting every file to CSV is overhead
