I built up a test environment with an esxi 5.5 and Splunk Enterprise on Ubuntu64

I followed the manual till page 19 (Test DCN and vCenter Server configurations...)
and I got 2 Problems.

Settings>Collection Configuration>Virtual Centers doesn´t show any hosts [Collection from 0 hosts]
sourcetype=vmware:perf* also doesn´t
I only get logs from VMinv:Datastore/ Hierarchy.....

My Access controls>Users>admin is configured right.
(selected roles: splunk_vmware_admin,splunk_vmware_user)

thanks a lot

Do you have vCenter? If not, I'm not sure if this app works . v2.x was tested for unmanaged ESXi host. But, probably the v3.1/3.2 are not tested since UI design was changed a lot.

Other issue is Ubuntu. Basically it is not supported and tested. But, people said they can use when default shell is bash, not dash. So, for production environment, I suggest to use 64bit CentOS/RHEL.

Any error message in splunkd.log or hydra log?

I got an unmanaged esx (1 Host + 1 vSphere Client) so this shouldn´t be the problem
I´ve tested it with centOS 64Bit and this doesn´t work at all =(
I also got an error message on my vSphere Client:
Name: Create task collector
Status: The operation is not supported on the object
Initiated by: root
