Avaya SMDR Delta Server Required?

Does the Avaya Call Add-On require (or support) the use of a SMDR Delta Server?
For Example:

Please confirm implementation steps:

• Install SMDR Delta Server
• Configure IPOffice to Write to SMDR Delta Server
• Install Splunk Universal Forwarder on SMDR Delta Server
• Configure Server Class with SMDR Delta Server and Avaya CALL sourcetype in Splunk

Is this the correct methodology?

All IPO500s can output SMDR directly (as above). Delta server was used on very old systems that could not do this.

Avaya Call Add-On completely replaces Delta server.
