Add-on for Salesforce: EventLogFile available event types

I am wondering if Splunk is able to extrapolate only those events that are available within the Salesforce EventLogFile object. If Event Monitoring is not available in my org, will I only be able to see the login/logout files generally available within the Salesforce "standard" solution or is there some sort of a workouround?
