I confirmed i can use telnet to successfully send an email from the splunk server with insights for infrastructure running. BUT no alerts are being sent to us and the python.log file is blank.
we have tried various settings within the settings | notifications tab but emails for alerts are not getting to us.

Have a similar issue using Insights for Infrastructure. SMTP settings correctly set up. Alerts set up, but nothing showing up in python.log (empty 0kb) and no maillog.log file found.
Are there other tests I can run from within Insights For Infrastructure to ensure splunk can send mail out and then we can focus on alerting?
any help is appreciated

Maillog doesn't exist on Insights for infrastructure and our python.log file is empty.
SMTP server settings are set the same way as many other systems, but the alerts from splunk do not get sent.
Need a way to troubleshoot the issues.

Its been a year, is there any alerting available in Splunk Insights for Infrastructure?
Without alerting for up/down status or disk space filling up, I don't feel Splunk Insights for Infrastructure is useful.
Please help me understand if this functionality is built into the latest release of Splunk Insights for Infrastructure

We are using Splunk Insights for Infrastructure and its using 10gb or more a day and consuming a ton of space. I read of threads about collectd, but not sure how we are collecting the data. I expect we are using the default method to collect and store the data. Any insights are appreciated.

I need to read in a file of exchange mailboxes and usernames/accounts, provide the total number of mailboxes, usernames/accounts and compare that number to the count from the previous month and show a graph with the new mailboxes/counts. We have extracted the information using powershell and have imported the info, just not sure how to count the names and provide the comparison, any help is appreciated.
