Hi everyone,
I’m currently preparing for the SPLK-3001 (Splunk Enterprise Security Certified Admin) exam and wanted to clarify something regarding the exam scope.
Which version of Splunk Enterprise Security is the exam primarily based on?
Is it aligned with ES 7.x or ES 8.x?
Additionally, have there been any significant updates or changes in the exam questions/content following newer ES releases?
Hi @Kobi998
I received my Splunk ES certified admin certificate around Dec 2025 and as per my memory, most of the questions are "Enterprise Security Concepts" based. so no need worry about the versions, etc.
and, pls check the ES Certification blue-print:

All the best for your certifications, thanks.
Hi @Kobi998
From my memory from recertifying at the start of the year its mainly based on ES7 and the 'concepts' so not always version specific. That said if you're familiar with either 7 or 8 you shouldnt have too much trouble with it.
Its worth noting that this is now a legacy exams (see https://www.splunk.com/en_us/pdfs/training/splunk-certification-changes.pdf) and instead I would recommend persuing:
Splunk Certified Cybersecurity Defense Analyst and Splunk Certified Cybersecurity Defense Engineer
