mvindex after stats

We are attempting to get the top five modules that download mp3 music data THE MOST and their respective VOLUMES

DeviceNum is mp3 device number

TotalVolumeDownloaded is downloaded per DeviceNum

This is the query :

index="usage" | stats max(TotalVolumeDownloaded) as Max by DeviceNum | dedup DeviceNum  sortby -Max | eval DeviceNum_top_five =mvindex(DeviceNum, 0,4) | eval volume_top_five =mvindex(Max,0,4) | table DeviceNum_top_five volume_top_five

This should get me top 5 devices and top 5 usage. Curious so as to why this doesnt work

Stats alone is not sufficient to create a multivalued field; mvindex requires that the field be multi-valued. You might try head limit=5
