error in splunk list forward-server command

We ar trying to connect our forwarder installed on one of the windows server to splunk installed on another windows server. However spluink is n0t showing active forwarders connected.
Even the splunk list forward-server command is giving below error when run on forwarder.
Please help

Did you solve this? I'm getting the following error on one of our linux servers...

Checking mgmt port [8089]: open
Checking conf files for typos... Done
All preliminary checks passed.

Operation "is_pid_valid" failed in /opt/splunk/p4/splunk/branches/5.0.1/src/libzero/conf-mutator-locking.c:261, conf_mutator_lock(); Operation not permitted
Conf mutator lockfile has PID 18797, but my PID is 1144; error condition likely.

EDIT:
Restarted the VM and now it's all working again not sure what happened. It was right after doing some security patching on our RedHat install.

All i can say is, This is likely due to forwarder not able to contact to splunk server, and u got this error.

just delete the forwarder and add again, thru CLI.
in my case it worked.....

and in case last escape is just reinstall forwarder, it will work if u got all required ports opened. 🙂
