What happens to Stanzas without any attributes?

Hi,

I am a newbie, just started working on splunk. I need your help.

I received application configuration files and many of them have empty stanzas(Stanzas without any attributes). I would like to know in this case whether default properties are set Or those stanzas are ignored by splunk while processing.
