Splunking data from GE Historian

Client uses GE Proficy Historian as machine data storage. We would like to get data from Proficy Historian, but I have no idea how to get it, because proficy historian enables only this types of connectivity: OLE DB, .net API, SDK(?), and OPC HDA.
Did anyone try connecting to OLE DB datasource?

I haven't tried it, but I've heard there was a project about building an OPC connector for Splunk. You may want to take a look at this link. And this is the Github project.
It would be great to hear about your findings.

Going database way, you may want to look into the direction of Splunk DB Connect app.
