Splunk Search

Search App and main page overall statistics

So on the main page of the Search app you have the 'Global Summary' and 'All indexed data' section which has the source, sourcetypes, and hosts. This only shows data currently for me for the default index of the logged in user.

Any way of getting it to show the Global Summary, sources, sourcetypes, etc. of a specified # of indexes aggregated together?

Thanks,

Scott

Scott,
For your specific role (you might want to create a different role for this other then admin?) you need to change your default indexes. Go to: Manager » Access controls » Roles » admin (or whichever role youre trying to change it for) and add other indexes to the Default index list. You might want to do this also for the 'indexes' list as well.

Then check if you see your sourcetypes and sources etc on the global summary page. Cheers,
.gz

Thanks, didn't realize it was tied into the default index for the user. I'd rather not alter the set of indexes a search defaults to, was hoping the global summary, etc. were de-coupled from the default used in the actual search.
