Redefining MAX size for production indexes

Hello all,

I am helping a partner who have a couple of indexes very closed to the MAX limit.

They want to re-defined their MAX value, but their hot warm buckets used extensively by searches, and they wonder the impact it might have on those.

Is there any best practices on this case? or can they can just re-defined this MAX value without worrying much?

Increasing the maximum size won't affect searches at all. Decreasing the maximum size below the current size will eventually have old buckets removed, so your hot-bucket-related searches will not be affected either.
